Mirante do Gavião Amazon Lodge is located on the banks of the Rio Negro, in Novo Airão, 184km from Manaus. Considered the most extensive black water river in the world and the second largest in water volume (second only to the Amazon River), it encompasses an enormous plant, animal and cultural diversity, thus adding even more peculiarities to the Amazon biome.

You will be surprised by the magical sensations that will be awakened when we enter the Amazonian habitat, understanding more about the present biodiversity and the people that make this place so special. We will dive into rivers and venture into incredible activities, such as piranha fishing, visiting caves and taking jungle trails. In addition to the multisensory experience, we will have the maximum comfort at the Mirante do Gavião Lodge, built in a sustainable manner, integrating the environment in which it is harmoniously inserted into an impeccable hotel structure.
Itinerary
Day 1 | Transfer from Manaus to the municipality of Novo Airão (approx 2h 30min) in an air-conditioned vehicle. Check-in, lunch and departure for a swim in the river on the freshwater beaches (dry season) OR water trail through the igapós (rainy season). Spend the afternoon as you like with the option of swimming with floaties on the Rio Negro and watching the sunset in the Anavilhanas National Park. At night there will be an opportunity to spot alligators and other nocturnal animals. Dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2 | DRY: Departure by speedboat to the Aracarí and Bacaba communities. Interpretive trail in the forest. For lunch we will serve Amazonian fish roasted on the grill in a traditional riverside house. After that we will go to the Bacaba beach for some relaxation, located in the heart of the Anavilhanas National Park. Take a refreshing swim and get ready to learn more about the flora and fauna of the islands. A quick trip to the largest tree of the Anavilhanas igapó, a giant Macucu, a spectacular representation of the lowland rainforest and its peculiar ecosystem.
Day 3 | Breakfast at the hotel and take off in a speedboat (1h 30min) to embark on an interpretive trail to the caves of Madadá to discover it’s remarkable chambers and passages (full day – 3 hour trekking in untouched forest).
Day 4 | Enjoy breakfast and before we end our stay, we will take a city tour in Novo Airão with a local guide (can be done with bicycles or motorized vehicle). Return and check out at the Lodge. After lunch, transfer to Manaus in an air-conditioned vehicle (approx. 2h 30min).
